Swine Tax is an abrasive indie-rock trio from Newcastle upon Tyne, formed in 2017. The band is Vince Lisle (vocals, guitar), Tom Kelly (vocals, bass) and Charlie Radford (drums).
Their intense, visceral and wilfully raw rock sound is informed by the American college-rock scene and artists such as Pavement, Modest Mouse and Sonic Youth. Yet, above the riot of guitars and frenetic drums, Lisle’s reflective and literate lyrics are firmly rooted within the quotidian experiences of Northern city life and address themes of pain, politics, and lust. With their constantly mutating musical influences, Swine Tax eschews current trends and continue to pursue their own idiosyncratic musical interests.
