American Wolf was a full band from 2011 through 2016. In 2016, it became a solo act due to stylistic differences in the sound. In the last two years, I have released a slew of singles that have explored a multitude of electronic and pop mixtures.
For the last few singles, I have directed my stylistic approach towards the ‘80s, synth pop and vaporwave aesthetic. “Lust for Loss” follows a stylistic pattern past singles have attempted such as, “Zen” and “Square the Circle”, both released earlier this year.
“Lust for Loss” was recorded entirely in my bedroom, written, recorded, produced by myself. The song was mixed by Chuck Kawal, who has worked with the likes of R.Kelly, Vanessa Williams and Dominic Miller from Sting. “Lust for Loss” is a song about constantly romanticizing the past, about remembering things in a way that makes the circumstances hurt less. The song is influenced by bands such as M83, Toro Y Moi, Washed Out and others smaller indie groups like The Japanese House, Small Black or Casa del Mirto.
