Dreampop goodness from married duo Jane and Andrew Craig currently writing and recording in their attic near the seaside city of Brighton, England. Formed in 2018 after last releasing music together in the mid 90s, Dreams of Empire combines moody reverb drenched vocals with a shimmering guitar wall of noise.
A distinctive 90s indie feel, inspired by the wave of bands they grew up with like Ride, Lush and Pale Saints. But also in love with newer bands like Lowtide, Alvvays and Swimming Tapes. After getting some incredibly positive feedback to a handful of self-released tracks at the start of the year, they release Northern Lights on 26 April as a digital single on Bandcamp and the usual streaming platforms.
Northern Lights is a tale of icy nordic beauty hiding unknown darkness. It sounds scarier than it is, but every silver lining has a cloud. Jane (vocals) and Andrew (instruments) first collaborated in Luminous, a five-piece that collaborated with maverick US producer Kramer (Bongwater, Galaxie 500) who produced the band’s debut album ‘Concentrate’, released on his Kokopop label in 1994. We’re just finishing writing an album’s worth of songs and will be looking to get it released later this year.
