Essex-based dance-rock band PALMIST are leaning toward a new sound in 2021. Shifting from the arena-rock sounds of their debut EP The Walls Between You & I (2019) and the more refined pop-rock sound of their sophomore EP Fake Smiles (2020).

Their latest single “Spark” (April 2021), served as a rebirth of sorts for PALMIST. The group expanded further into the 80s synth-pop sound they had dabbled with on previous releases. Synthesisers, groove-laden bass lines and questionable blazers have taken centre stage and helped PALMIST solidify themselves as an unquestionably unique band within the rock community in the UK.

Now they’re gearing up to unveil their latest single “If This Is Love”. Vocalist Sam Paterson has this to say about the meaning of the song

“‘If This Is Love’ is a song about staying faithful during challenging times in a relationship. Having someone else present themselves when things aren’t going well can seem like an easy way to escape your problems, but ultimately you need to persevere and make sure to never give up on those you care about.”
