An atmospheric lullaby, piano progressions and complex harmonies
This year, space-pop singer-songwriter Ebony Buckle has been releasing her debut album Disco Lasers in an unconventional way – one song at a time, allowing her fans to join her on her creative journey.
Disco Lasers is a collection of audio-visual stories exploring how we as human beings make sense of our existence through folklore, legends, science and our imagination. The album is an entirely independent release funded by Ebony’s Patreon community.
‘Little Stars’ explores in a beautiful way the shock of finding out that something is wrong when you thought everything was fine. Produced by her husband and co-writer Nick Burns, Little Stars is an atmospheric lullaby. Over piano progressions and complex harmonies, Buckle repeats;“The little Stars were in their sky safe, or so we thought”.
The music video was created by Luke Taylor and Sky Zhou and depicts Buckle crash-landed on a strange planet, unable to move. This visual ties in with her earlier releases and continues the story of her concept album.
Ebony Buckle is an Australian singer/songwriter based in London. She writes and performs with her husband and producer-musician Nick Burns. The singer and actress have performed in The West End and on screen for the BBC in Inspector George Gently. Her songs from the show reached number 1 in the iTunes World Music Charts. Every day, through her lyricism, music and poetry, Buckle continues to feed our imagination with her beautifully kaleidoscopic music. Come along for the ride – her unique world is completely enchanting.
Over the last year, Ebony has been building a community of poetry and music lovers around her music, who have been supporting her along the way as her patrons. Disco Lasers is an entirely independent release funded by them, which has empowered Ebony to explore the different ways an album could be shared with the world.
