Glass Violet began in 2019 when Alex John and Tom Hurdiss met and began writing and recording material for several months before recruiting Matt West (Drums), Josh Walsh (Bass) and Declan Pollard (Synth/Keys) to complete the lineup.

Taking inspiration from bands such as The Killers, Kasabian, The Strokes and Foals, has resulted in an anthemic sounding set of songs, consisting of huge choruses, soaring riffs and melodramatic breakdowns. So far, the band’s releases have all gained attention from the likes of BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio, BBC Radio Bristol, BBC Radio Wales and Sirius XM New single ‘Indigo’ was released on Friday 26th November 2021.

“ Indigo was a song that I was planning on saving for our first album, but after not being satisfied with our previous single, we knew that we had to up our game, so I decided to dig out the Pro Tools session for it and spent a few weeks trying to rewrite it until it finally felt perfect. We then went into a studio to replace all the drums and guitar parts before I and Tom finished the song at my house in July.

In terms of influences on the song, a key moment was realising that the track should be some sort of cross between ‘Hounds of Love’ by Kate Bush and ‘Read my Mind’ by The killers.” – Alex John, (Songwriter, Producer, Guitar).
