Sparse folk to hard-hitting alternative rock

After releasing two lead singles, Southey has released his new EP, entitled Common Fantasies.

It runs the gamut from sparse folk to hard-hitting alternative rock. There is a push and pull, inertia-kind of dynamic as the EP progresses and each track develops its own personality. When the hard-hitting stuff becomes too much, the EP pulls back into a much more peaceful and introspective realm.

Fans of Southey’s past music will find tracks on the EP both fresh and familiar; however this isn’t a re-tread. Southey stretches his rock wings further than ever before and pulls back into an acoustic mode unlike anything since his debut LP Christmastown.
