The project started in 2012. cityGirl was inspired by their grandparents’ trip to Hawaii to make lo-fi electronic music.

That year, cityGirl happened across ~10 old photos from their trip that their passed-away grandmother (who cityGirl had never met) took. “I found the photos to be extremely artistic and beautiful,” cityGirl says. “Looking at the photos, I felt connected to the artistic vision of my ancestors in a way that gave me courage and belief in my own artistic visions. So I started making music.”
cityGirl is an NJ Native and makes all the music by themselves in their apartment.
