Byron Bay producer-turned-solo artist, Huey Blue – the man behind the music for so many local artists – is set to release his debut album, Friday Anxiety. Having showcased his artistry to a sold-out crowd at Yeh Nah Festival in Brisbane this March.



Huey is no stranger to the stage, having been a key player in a number of bands who supported the likes of The Rubens, Gang of Youths, Jungle Giants & Last Dinosaurs.

His new solo project presents an exciting direction that showcases the young producer’s multi-instrumentation, with a voice & writing style so smooth it is incredibly reminiscent of soulful ‘70s pop.

Huey Blue’s first single, “Switchblade”, introduced this nostalgic sound with acclaim both in Australia and overseas. “The Chase” followed in August. Now, “Sugar Mama” takes hold.

Releasing 11/9 on all digital channels, “Sugar Mama” is a new track from rising Australian artist Huey Blue. The catchy, charismatic track is off “Sugar Mama” is off Huey’s forthcoming debut album Friday Anxiety, which is set for release in early 2019. The record was recorded in Byron Bay, Australia with producer Jake Walsh (Jordan Rakei).

“Sugar Mama” combines elements of dub and funk to depict a story of a tumultuous relationship.The inspiration behind the intricate sounds and harmonies came from bands like Fat Freddy’s Drop and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
