Plugs Daughter
Atlanta, GA – The international pop artist and producer, WNTALN (pronounced Went All-In) is releasing his new single Plug’s Daughter, a vibrant Latin-infused bop, along with his first self-titled EP which includes this smash and 4 other genre-bending masterpieces. Plug’s Daughter features South Carolina’s hip hop queen, Renni Rucci and solidifies WNTALN’s status as a one-of-a-kind artist carving out his own sonic and visual space.
The music video is more of a short film that delivers an action-packed story to the already spicy song. A mixture of Bad Boys and Austin Powers, WNTALN goes undercover, playing 7 different characters to take down the “Plug” and in the process falls in love with his “daughter”, Renni Rucci. WNTALN gives us a 3 for 1 deal with the release of the music video and EP versions of Plug’s Daughter as they feature rapper and Freebandz A&R Ugly Money Niche, who brings the muscle to not only the record but the video as well. Plug’s Daughter is sure to fill up dance floors and is now on all major digital music platforms worldwide. WNTALN’s music is a reflection of the many cultures he has experienced during his young life. He’s travelled and lived throughout the world, and as a result became a human melting pot of culture, music, dance, and fashion. While having resided in cities including Hong Kong and Tokyo, he now splits his time between Singapore and Atlanta. When he’s not creating, he spends time working with nonprofits such as Blue Dragon in Hanoi, Vietnam, an organization that assists children who are homeless, disabled, or victims of slavery and human trafficking. His life mission is to spread positivity, empowering people who are disadvantaged and to inspire others whether it’s through charity work or his creative endeavours.
Plug’s Daughter combines elements of pop and the Atlanta “trap” roots with a cocktail of Latin-charged rhythms and guitar. WNTALN shared Plug’s Daughters creation story saying, “I and Ugly Money Niche (fellow artist/songwriter) were at his crib going through beats and ideas and he had this concept of falling in love with a drug boss’ daughter.
We developed the idea and finished writing that night. I told him I had a vision for it and so I went all in. I took it back to Singapore and produced the music around it with a fellow producer from Portugal, DJ Alx. We obviously needed a “plug’s daughter” to feature and long story short, Renni was the perfect person for it. She’s been going hard for a few years and I knew that she would go crazy on it. We made that happen; I wrote the video treatment, orchestrated and shot the video not too long after…and here we are.” While Plug’s Daughter thoughtfully builds on WNTALN’s gumbo-pot of cultural sound, it’s the 5 song EP that shows us some of WNTALN’s range and gives us a look into some of his personal life growing up.
Teaming up with producers, The Art Teacher and Black Akademi, on songs like the beautiful Grace, WNTALN paints the reality of being kicked out of his home as a teen, living “where I could’’ and how his relationship with God got him through it. Obvious is another obvious smash that goes from WNTALN speaking Japanese to silky vocals and crazy runs on the talkbox throughout. All 5 songs give a unique snapshot of the diverse and multifaceted WNTALN. What we know is that the globetrotter is just opening up his sails and setting his course to the top.
