With a refreshing approach to R&B and Soul, singer-songwriter NNENNA KING makes her debut with ‘Why’, thriving on emotionally raw minimalism, with her soulful voice acting as the central instrument.
Born and raised in East London, the young songstress pulls influence from the soul-stirring sounds her parents and siblings would play around the house, from the likes of Fela Kuti, Miles Davis and Anita Baker. Blending these influences, KING creates music dripping with colourful melodies and scorching charisma.
KING started singing at just 6 years old and always knew she wanted to be a singer. As her interest in music grew, so did her desire to make her dreams a reality. In 2011 she gained a place at the prestigious BRIT SCHOOL for music and spent four years perfecting her craft.
Taking her cues from the silky production of acts like NAO and Erykah Badu– NNENNA’s music is deeply inspired by household names like Stevie Wonder, Amy Winehouse and Lauryn Hill.
