CASTLEBEAT finds the thread again on “Stay With Me”

A decade is long enough to lose the thread and find it somewhere better. Josh Hwang, the indie dream pop artist behind CASTLEBEAT, steps back into view with “Stay With Me” — the lead single from CASTLEBEAT II, arriving 26 June via Spirit Goth Records and conceived as a ten-year anniversary letter to his beloved 2016 debut.

The single does exactly what Hwang does best: jangly Stratocaster hooks, a slacker-rock groove that never tips over into effort, and a quietly aching lyric that arrives gently and stays. It’s indie dream pop in its purest form — wistful but not weary, structured but never over-considered. The bittersweet feeling baked into the title is right there on the surface, unhurried and immediate at once.

CASTLEBEAT II promises that same sensibility across a full record, Hwang returning to the sonic roots of the original but bringing a decade of craft to the execution — bigger and more focused while remaining entirely his own. If “Stay With Me” is any indication, the wait will have been worth it.
