King Falcon crown themselves on “Hourglass” as BLOOM arrives
New York has never been short of guitar bands, but King Falcon make the city’s rock tradition sound like it’s still warm from the amp. Formed in 2020, the trio work with lived-in, stubbornly analog gear, pairing vintage grit with a very 21st-century alt-rock swagger. Think The Strokes’ cool, Arctic Monkeys’ wit and Foo Fighters’ lift, all fed through one well-worn fuzz pedal.
Frontman Micheal Rubin handles vocals and lead guitar, with Joe Conserva on bass and Dipayan “Dip” Chakraborty behind the kit. Together they write hook-heavy anthems that work as well in a sweaty club as they do on a playlist, and the numbers back that up.
Their self-titled debut, King Falcon (2023), racked up millions of Spotify streams on the strength of fan favourites “Ready Set Go”, “Cadillac” and “Everybody’s Down”. Then in 2025, “Plastic Crown” turned into a proper breakout, sitting at #1 on Amazon Music’s Breakthrough Rock playlist for several weeks and landing at #45 on MediaBase Radio in its first week.

The press has been paying attention too. MXDWN named them Best New Artist, Guitar World called them “one of NYC’s most exciting indie-rock bands”, and Louder’s Classic Rock Magazine put it neatly: “Fans of The Strokes or the much-missed Ambulance Ltd will feel immediately at home… there’s a frisky, power-pop side to this band that marks them out as more than just another bunch of Williamsburg wannabes.”
That power-pop streak is a big part of the appeal. Underneath the crunch, King Falcon are sharp songwriters with an ear for a chorus you’ll still be humming the next morning. On stage, it’s all delivered with the confidence of a band who’ve shared bills with The Struts, Des Rocs and Sublime with Rome, and built a reputation for live shows that crackle.
2026 has been their busiest year yet. A run of singles, “Holding Out”, “Wait”, “Nothing Feels Amazing” and now “Hourglass”, led the way to BLOOM, the band’s new EP, released on September 18. “Hourglass” feels like the right note to go out on before the full release: urgent, melodic and a little restless, like a band that knows time is on its side but isn’t willing to waste any of it.
Every release so far has tightened the screws on King Falcon’s sound without sanding off the edges. BLOOM keeps that going. The riffs are fuller and the hooks land harder, and that unapologetic New York attitude is still front and centre. If your idea of a good time is a loud guitar, a big chorus and a band that means every word, this is well worth your evening.
