Step into the kaleidoscopic realm of Pearl Earl, the mesmerizing neo-psychedelic rock project helmed by the enigmatic multi-instrumentalist and singer/songwriter, Ariel Hartley. Hailing from Denton, TX, this sonic endeavor was born back in 2014 as a humble three-piece. However, Pearl Earl has since morphed and evolved, boasting a revolving lineup of exceptional original and touring members. Among the talented contributors are the likes of Bailey K Chapman, Stefanie Lazcano, Chelsey Danielle, Teddy Georgia Waggy, and Leeza V. This constant metamorphosis has propelled Pearl Earl’s otherworldly sound, transcending the confines of its origins as a mere bedroom project in Hartley’s college days.

Drawing inspiration from the ethereal realms of spacey prog and the golden era of glam rock, Pearl Earl deftly channels the cosmic nostalgia of yesteryear while simultaneously forging uncharted paths within their own psychedelic universe. Aptly described as “Pink Floyd in the sunlight,” their live performances are nothing short of captivating and euphoric, imbued with an intriguingly ominous grin.

Having embarked on numerous U.S. tours, Pearl Earl has graced stages alongside esteemed acts like Death Valley, Girls, Oh Sees, Post Animal, The Black Angels, Acid Dad, Frankie and The Witch Fingers, and Black Lips. Moreover, they’ve made their mark on major festivals including the illustrious Levitation and the renowned SXSW.

Now firmly planted in the sonic landscapes of Los Angeles and North Texas, Pearl Earl has unveiled their highly anticipated sophomore opus, “It’s Dread,” courtesy of the esteemed Green Witch Recordings in NYC. This auditory odyssey was meticulously crafted within the creative confines of Los Angeles’ Studio 22, under the expert guidance of Tomas Dolas (known for his work with Mr. Elevator and Oh Sees). “It’s Dread” delves into darker thematic territories, exploring existential crises in an apocalyptic world. The first single off the album, ‘Evil Does It,’ is a sublime symphony of swirling synths and reverberating rhythms. Fans of Pond and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard will find themselves blissfully ensnared by its woozy allure. With a laid-back, rhythmically intoxicating sway, this track refuses to take itself too seriously, fearlessly embracing any sound that fits and seamlessly weaving it into their melodic tapestry. Antonia Sulley of Earmilk aptly describes it as a musical treat.

Journeying into the enchanting world of Pearl Earl is akin to stumbling upon a villainous cartoon rock band from a bygone era, reminiscent of a mischievous episode of Josie & the Pussycats. Their debut album’s songs are infused with vibrant, cartoon-like hues, boasting intricate guitar work, enchantingly witchy vocals, and unexpected melodic twists and turns. Just when you think you’ve unravelled their sonic tapestry, Pearl Earl defies expectations and shape-shifts before your very ears.
