The Scottish Borders’ Best-Kept Secret Is Getting Louder
There’s something quietly thrilling happening in the Scottish Borders, and it goes by the name Polyphonic Sonder.
The indie rock trio formed in early 2026, but you’d be forgiven for thinking they’ve been at it far longer. Drawing on the sun-soaked melodic swagger of The Kooks and sharpening it with the rougher, more restless energy of The Libertines, Polyphonic Sonder have landed on a sound that feels both familiar and distinctly their own — the kind of music that gets under your skin on first listen and stays there.
Three members. One region. A whole lot of momentum.
Still fresh out of the blocks, the band are already building a loyal following on their home turf, winning over local crowds with the sort of infectious live energy that no algorithm can manufacture. Word travels fast in tight-knit communities, and right now, the word on Polyphonic Sonder is very good indeed.
But the Scottish Borders is just the beginning. With a sound this ready-made for bigger stages, it’s hard to imagine them staying under the radar for long. They’ve got their sights set firmly on the climb — and if the early signs are anything to go by, the top isn’t as far away as it might seem.
